Having read through this forum, I understand that the most important aspect of installing a new HVAC system is to find a contractor you're comfortable with. I've found 2 that I could work with, but have a couple of questions I'm hoping somebody could help clarify for me. As a basis, I live in Toronto, Canada in a 2800 sqft 2 story house. The unit will be connecting into an 18yr old Clare single stage furnace.
1) One contractor is promoting York H4DE 036, while the other is promoting a 12 SEER KeepRite. I'm fine with either unit, but there is a considerable difference in their warranty. Should this be a concern?
2) Both contractors are recommending a 3ton unit, however one is suggesting a 3.5 ton coil suggesting it will help to cool the 2nd floor better. There's no cost difference, but I thought the units were matched. Does this make sense?
Thanks for any assistance. This is a great forum and I have learned a lot.
