Hi there,

I am dealing with a Carrier split condensing unit with the following data:

Model Number = 38HKS014-121
Serial Number = 1403F25017

According to the serial number, this is a 2003 unit.

I can't for the life of me break down the model number to tell me the tonnage of the unit. Can anyone help?

Thank you kindly!

Katie

38 = Air Cooled Condensing Unit
HKS = Model
014 = Nominal Size (in this case 14000 Btuh)
1 = Voltage Code (in this case 120-1-60
21 = Manufacturing codes (of no importance to you)

I think you mean "38aks014" which is a 12.5 ton unit not sure what you voltage is . Not normal numbers from what I have seen.

Thanks - you're right; it was an A and not an H. 38aks014 is what I meant, and it's a 12.5 ton unit! Thank you.

Up here in Canada, we get 575 sometimes. No worries ;)

Thanks again.

The difference a number or letter can make...
