I was just wondering if anyone had any tips on getting started in the residentail side of the HVAC service side. We have done commercial for over 50 years and have a great oppurtunity to do the resd.
Anyone that has any tips or ideas, please email me!!
Thanks

While the fundimentals of refrigeration are similar, the customers are completely different and have much higher expectations. Commercial customers typicly purchase systems that do the job and will pay for it. Residential is extremely competative and you need to set yourself apart from the average contractor by providing solutions not price quotes.

I agree with all of you guys. We are still going to do commerical, we are just adding the resdentail side to it. We already have contracts with one of the biggest real estate comies out there. I guess, I was more concerned with the advertising and how to find the right type of employee's.

...works better than yellow pages, in my opinion. Also, residentual customers want evenings and weekends and really complain if they have to pay extra and remember that if your techs get the carpet dirty they will expect you to have it cleaned.Oh, and on a final note, dog poop is hard to see in the grass after dark.
Cheers!

Buy out or merge with a successful one horse resi outfit with the stipulation that the current owner run that division for at least 5 years.
