We just had a new Heat Pump A/C installed. We suffered for a week after the installation with sinus problems and not cooling correctly. The company sent a new tech out to check out the problem. He stated the "wiring" was not correct and the heat strips were coming on while the A/C was on. (our power bill will be HIGH). Should we ask them to replace? This is a NEW system (not cheap) Tech said the outside unit had incorrect wiring (Amana). The new unit is still not cooling as good as our last unit and we were told it was a better unit. They also installed a new thermostat. Please help.

Did he fix the problems? When you say heat strips do you mean the band heater for the compressor? That should be an easy fix. Also was the unit that was replaced done so with the same tonnage? They should fix the wiring for free as they are the ones that installed it. Let us know.

I think he means the Backup Electric Strip Heat was coming on.

Installers neglected a step in setting up the system. Not a big deal. Didn't hurt anything, just a little annoying. Hope the tech at least apologized.
