I have been tasked with converting one of our old AHUs from rooftop Freon units with DX coils to chilled water. Most of the big stuff is done, now I am looking at the details.
We have a 35 year old unit. What I have found on the internet machine is that we will need to add a smoke detector on the supply side (over 2000 but under 15000 CFM). I am wondering about the heat detectors that were the old unit. They look like temperature switches set to 160° and were in the NC stop circuit of the supply and return fans. Should I add these back in or omit them all together? I hate removing safeties.
Also, I am wondering about best practices for the "smoke detected" sequence. I will secure fans and alarm to a "continually habitated area", but what to do with the dampers (outside air, return air and dump to mezzanine)?
Thanks
