Only had this for about 2 weeks and Ive only had two issues with this.
1. left in a walk in freezer for a hour, it didn't like this.
2. Today while using the meter on a hot roof and sunlight it was almost impossible to read the display, is this common.. i was trying to make some shade just so i could make out the numbers.

Most LCDs will freeze in freezers and also black out when it gets very hot. However once the meter stabilizes into the operating temp spec'd on the operators manual, no damage will be done to the meter, as long as the temps it was exposed to weren't too extreme (ovens or the north pole). Our Newest meter the SC56 can withstand much lower and higher temps. If you have any questions feel free to call us at 714 634 1844.

Have not had that problem with my hs36 yet but had some of my flukes go black the sceen will come back to if you take it out of the sun...

Hey Russ you ever had a problem with the ADK7 test lead kits not having the long skinny test leads in it???

I bought a set the other day and it showed up without skinny probes for molex plugs. :hijacked:

All LCDs will freeze and or black out at their specified temperature. All our newer/higher end meters will have more temp resilient displays form now on and we hope to update some of our older models soon but have not completed that process for every meter, including the HS36.

We started including the MOLEX tips about 8 or 9 months ago so you could have gotten one that had been on the shelf longer than that. If you email me your address i'll send some along. Fppm2@fieldpiece.com

well other then this im very pleased with the meter.
the hanging magnet is both a blessing and a pain in the ass.
sometimes i just wanna set it on a table, and it'll stick to it, or it picks up metal shavings.

russel, what do you consider your high end meters? by looking at your web site i have trouble deciding.

i started out 15 yrs ago with a hb74?! i think thats what it was. and now have a hs s6. i like it but still have issues with the auto ranging. i guess im just a slow learner!

i do like the sc56 though.

For the Stick Style the HS36 is the high end. However the design is a few years old and the LCD hasn't been updated to the extreme temp LCD.

The SC77 is the equivalent to the HS36 for the clamp style.

The SC56 is the newest and most up to date meter we have out.
