Enough of the Green already

How about the new (or not so new) GE ECEM motors now being used as condenser fan motors. Well I say it is a bad idea-period. Can the electronics handle the plus/minus 10% voltage tolerance? I doubt it. I'm seeing some early failure on these and I think the customers are getting screwed when they buy into green technology. Any thoughts from the field?
