I have a residential (2 story house) multi-zoned (3 zones) HW baseboard heating system with a circulator and flow/check valve for each zone, (1 circulator & 1 flow/check valve per zone). The flow/check valve is located on the supply side of each zone leaving the boiler. I have a question regarding the function/use of the flow/check valve.

Question 1- I know the flow/check valve also acts as a check valve allowing water not to flow back, but to flow only in the 1 direction. Does it also act as a flow control to control the amount of flow (GPM) through the zone?

Question 2- Does this valve need to be adjusted to set the flow through each zone even though there is a circulator pump for each zone?

Question 3- If the flow/check needs to be adjusted how do you actually adjust it and know/monitor the flow to ensure the flow is adequate?

Thank you, information would be highly appreciated!
