My question is this: Which furnace would you recommend to go with this setup. 1800 sq ft contemporary in the Atlanta suburbs

Carrier 15S Comfort HP 3 ton
3 ton Coil
Edge TP-PRH01

I can't decide on wither the Performance 80 or the Comfort 80. What are the pro/cons of either of these two.

Thanks

It depends on the rebates and tax credits.

I would suggest a variable-speed blower in whatever you buy.

I dont think either of these are Variable speed. I think they are both 3 speed with the performance being 5 speed capable. At least that is my understanding. I beleive the Infinitys are variable speed but quite a bit more $$. What is the benefit if variable speed. My main goals are heat/cool, humidify/dehumidify. I was under the impression that w/ the Edge tstat I could regulate the humidity i.e call for humidity/kick on humidifier, call for dehumidify/kick on blower low speed. Is that not correct??

I'd recommend doing site search on the topic. There must be over 10,000 threads all asking which furnace to purchase. The answers are always the same too. Get the right company and let them help you decide. How to get the right company is the trick. Try searching for that!

You can only de-humidify (important I would think in Atlanta) with a variable-speed blower and the right stat.

They make a variable-speed in a 80% that would be less money.

I'm surprised your HVAC guy wouldn't suggest it.
