Two years ago I bought a nice yellow jacket wrench with 2 sides for opening service valves
This year on the first two start ups ,the small side slipped in the socket! ???
What gives???? did something change???

I don't think anything has changed. Seems like mine never last more than a few years.

The edge of the pawl on the ratchet seems to round off over time.

Best one I've found is the Yellow Jacket in the larger size.

KaStar from United Refrigeration is the best I've found. Before that I had an Imperial that started slipping after just a month.

You might want to check with the supplier, I thought yellow jacket had a lifetime warranty. I usually lose them before they wear out!

Real shame they don't make quality tools anymore. The service wrench below is
over 40 years old. I have used it every day since I started in this industry.
Duro Chrome made them, and several others followed suit, but they disappeared
many years back. I have been hoping demand would get someone to start building
them again...........

Do they last longer than the other ones?

Do they last longer than the other ones?

I think they will but I've only had them about a year. Very smooth ratchet mechanism, better than the ratcheting box ends I have. Usually I'd break the old pairs on a stubborn service valve, I just haven't ran into one yet with the new set.

I bought one and it didn't even last 6 months, exchanged it for a new one that is still working, hoping this one lasts but my confidence is low.

YJ used to advertise this as a USA made product but mine was from Taiwan :(
