I've done residential HVAC for many years. I'm starting to dabble in commercial units. I've been learning alot but I'm having to learn on my own.

Anyway, I came upon a Carrier 40RM016B611HC Air Handler with the blower wheel smashed to bits. I've asked the bossman to let me replace it even though I've never done it. Any pointers I can get from you guys?

If you don't have one, get an angle grinder. Use zip blades to cut the old unit out if it does not want to come out on its own. Change out bearings at the same time. If you are doing any cutting or grinding inside the unit, cover the coil and return duct so you do not set off any smoke detectors.
Check out the cost of a replacement fan unit, some times they are cheaper than the parts.
good luck

Funny how the whole unit can be cheaper..
