I have a xp15 4 ton lennox heat pump that i'm working on and it's totally fine when in cooling but when i put it in heating my low side drops down and hovers around 50-58psi while the high side is up between 300-320psi. Ambient was around 10 degrees F. On the reverse valve the top discharge pipe is around 150 degrees F and the suction line heading to the indoor coil is around 130 degrees F and the other pipes are around 0-6 degrees F. I think the slider isn't sliding over all the way when in heating, i've tried tapping it with a hammer as well as energizing and de-energizing "O" to loosen the slider, but nothing seems to be working. Does anybody have any advice on whats going on? Thanks

Don't hit it with a hammer any more.
Seriously though, what were you called there for?

I was called out there because the compressor was locked out on low pressre, it's a R 410 system and the pressure switch trips when it would drop below 25 psi.. when in heat mode my pressures should be around 100psi or so low side and 300psi or so in high side.. the temp between the the discharge port of the reverse valve and the suction pipe leading to the indoor coil is about 20 degree F difference, shouldn't they be roughly the same temp if the valve is functioning properly...What would you suggest might be the problem?

i was going to ask if it was a 410A, but since that info has a finally been divulged, all i can add is What possessed you to hit it with a hammer?

you need to call your service manager and ask for some training on heat pumps

You may have buggered an otherwise perfectly fine reversing valve by hitting it with a hammer.
I think your problem is elsewhere, but now the RV might be added into the mix, furthermore adding insult to injury.

sneakr76.
If you think your vapor pressure on a R410A system should be around 100 PSIG in heat mode at a 10°F ambient. You need to take some courses on heat pumps.

Actually the ambient was 10 degrees C ( 50 F) and the pressure should be around 100 psi or so.. As for the hammering part theres a major difference between smashing something with a hammer and damaging it than making light little taps on the ends of the valve...So with the info that i have provided, all of you guys think that there is nothing wrong with the reverse valve, all those pressures and temperatures all sound normal? Also the valve was acting up before I lightly tapped it with a hammer, so please don't say it's broken from the hammering cause it really isn't..:)
Also if someone has any constructive answers could they please let me know...
thanks guys :)

Its not the TXV.
And you should get your post count up to 15 and apply for pro membership, so you can post in the pro forums, where technical problems are talked about.
And you still need more training on heat pumps, since you thought it was the RV.

Your OP clearly says the OAT is 10 deg F. Now if we're talking Celcius that changes everything.
Regarding the RV, what's your TD from true suction into the RV to true suction out of the RV? 5-6 deg F would be normal. And you can sometimes hear them hiss when they're leaking across too. I still don't think your RV is bad with those pressures, although it could be leaking slightly, even if it is, it's not the only problem.
