Hi, my name is Brian and I have 25 years working on oil heat. I'm upgrading my skills right now at Suffolk County Community College. I'm in the HVAC Program. I could use some help with my computer class. I'm working, with five other students, on a power point presentation. It's been a pretty easy course so far. But now I need some help. I'm doing my slides on what to do if your unit fails. Oil is easy. I'm just using the info from the sticker that just about every oil company pastes on the boiler. You know the one: is your emergency switch on. Do you have oil in the tank, ect.
Is there something like that for gas heating customers? If so, could someone give me the info that would be on it? The only people that will see this presentation are my classmates and the instructor. The instructor knows computers but he does not know heat or AC. I'd still like the info to be true though.
I'm going to guess that the only things an AC customer could check before calling for service is that the thermostat is below room temp and set to cool, that both the power supply to evaporator and condesor are in the on position. and if the unit is running but not cooling, to check the air filter.
Any help would be apprieciated! Thanks.
