Allstyle AS48M108 evaporating unit tray has rusted out any suggestions on what to replace it with or maybe just new tray? A/c still working, if I want an affordable or a brand that is maybe not 6 weeks out for replacement? I was told that the manufacture has to build it and send it out (6 weeks) if I replaced the entire unit. House around 3000 sq. ft.

How old is the unit in question and did you wrap a tarp of something similar around it during the winter?

Why would you wrap a tarp around it? I think you mis-read. It's the evaporator. Not the condenser. I think the best suggestion would be for you to ask your a/c contractor what he recommends and make an informed decision based on that. If you want to keep it. Then I guess you wait 6 weeks. Although, I'm not sure why it takes 6 weeks. If you don't want to wait 6 weeks. Then see what your contractor says. If it's a few years old. Which I will assume it is if the tray is rotted out. Then it's probably better to replace the coil.

You're right, I did misread it. Now that I've come to my senses, here's my opinion. If the evap coil has a metal drain pan, it more than likely is 20 years old or older. If that's the case, it's not worth investing any more money into that system, it's time to replace it. The reason they can't find a drain pan for it is because it's obsolete, so now they have to fabricate one. If the entire system is 15 - 20 years old, you really should start thinking about a new system, IMO.

Twenty years, I have seen AllStyle pans rust out in three years.

OP do not waste your money have the coil replaced and have the compressor fully evaluated to determine if it is most practical to install a new condenser at the same time.

Thanks for the help guys, what do you think about just making a tray and setting it under the unit myself? just until I get the money saved up to fix it?

Or is there any sealant that I can buy myself?

I personally wouldn't put a whole lot of money into a 15 year old system. Sure, you could spend a little money to have just a drain pan replaced vs. having a new system installed, but what do you do when the compressor dies in say 6 months to a year? Now you've invested money into something that you'll never get back. If your budget allows you to replace/upgrade your system, I would recommend doing that instead of just buying a bandaid to get you by. A new system is going to be a more efficient than what you currently have, which will help save you some money on your utility bills.
