Just joined Hvac-Talk. What a great forum site with loads of awsome information. I am a HVAC contractor from Eastern Kentucky with a small residential and light commercial company. I am the second American Standard dealer in my area. I have 5 employees. I look to gain information as well as learn quite a bit also. I am young (32) and I have a huge technicial background, 3 NATE certs and 5 years in the U.S. Navy as a HVAC-R & boiler tech (BT & MM), but due to my age I need assistance in running the business. I have always been the top service guy (always in the field, not much in the office). So hopefully you guys will help be on my journey to success. Because I haven't been in the office much. I own the business soley, and no partners. I have been in business for two years since I left my hospital job as the director of engineering and maintenance of six years. Looking forward to figuring "it" out.

Pay cash as much as you can. Make sure you get paid! Be thrifty as much as is possible. Have mail sent to a post office box. Always have a back up plan. Make sure there is money set aside for the unexpected. Read this book "The Richest Man in Babylon" and this one "The Greatest Salesman in the World". Good Luck and Welcome!
