You haven't given us much to go on there, dismas.......:(
I'll give it a whirl though. ;)
If it's a Scotsman R502 cuber it's likely a CM Series. Go here (http://www.scotsman-ice.com/support/manualwelcome.pdf) and select a CM500. If that looks like what you have, good. It tells you where to find the dataplates on or about page 2. If they're gone but it still looks like yours, then go by the number of evaporators....ie a 250 has one evap, a 500 has two, etc. Let us know what you find out.
As far as the block of ice formation thing, it's often caused by a leaky inlet water solenoid valve. Check that first.

Scotsman Ice Machine
Model # CME-650-AE-32E
SERIAL # 262149-04J
The Custumer....sent another Tech...to check why
it was not making ice
the tech... claims it's the control relay
part # KU-90041-2
not making ice
forming a block...
the custumer added water munually...
and seems to throw more water..to the plates
SOUNDS like ..it may be more of a
INLET WATER VALVE.........issue
