Hi

My Lennox g8 furance air conditioner is dripping water when the A/C runs for an extended period of time. I really can't afford a repair person right now so I'm seeking any and all advice on how to fix it myself. I also need a G8 service guide or owner's manual.

Please help!!
It's HOT here on Toronto.

Dave

There should be a (most likely PVC) drain line coming from the bottom of the furnace under where the A/C coil is mounted. Hopefully this drain line will have a removeable plug where you can check to see if the line is clogged. If so, flush the line out with pressurized water (for example from a garden hose).

If this isn't the problem you'll need professional service help. Other problems could be a cracked drain pan under the coil inside the furnace and this isn't a user servicable part.

The unit is around 15-30 yrs old. The last service was done last year on the outisde compressor.

It could be as we said a stopped up drain but a coil freezing up may also be a thought so if drain is not clogged check out door unit for frost or frozen lines coming back to compressor ,the(large line)suction line
Also you can take a temperature reading of return air and supply with kitchen themometer and maybe i can help you more

If an old Lennox coil, I'd also suspect a rusted out drain pan.

if original system with g8 furnace probably a copper drain line. drain likely plugged up those real old drain pans don't usually rot out like the later metal ones did. doubt you will find any manual for it. unit 30-35 yrs old

They produced G8s in canada up to 1991, so it may not be so old.

Click Here (http://www.lennox.com/owners/archived-docs.asp) for the manual, if it's an HS14 or newer.

meh they were probably only used by builders in the 80s to early 90s. (Likely sold along with HS18s most of the time)

I believe that the G8 is very similar to the 12 anyway - same heat exchanger, 58 - 65% efficient, the newer ones had electronic ignition.
