That attitude will not get you very far in these forums. Call Trane back and explain to them that the compressor that they sold you has no oil and no literature. I'm sure that they will help you out in less time than it took you to post.

Were he someone entitled to that information Trane would give it to him in 2 minutes, a check of the comfortsite would yield it in 5 minutes. If you can't figure out how much oil to put in it, what kind of a startup are you going to do on it once you get it in place? I'd pay to see that commissioning report. What happened to the old compressor? What's he going to do when the new compressor starts and all the oil comes back that's logged in the system? Half the answers are in the IOM, the other half come from field experience. You need both and appear to have neither.

well obviously only one person on this site has any brains at all.Because all i asked was how much oil was in the compressor not your stupid comments on your horn blowing. I have been doing this kind of work for 29 years and was under the impression that maybe someone on here did a trane compressor before but i was wrong this site is a major waist of time and effort. This site was advertised as professionals helping professionals but I was wrong again. I will never use this site again due to the very unprofessional people

But wait ........ I have this great vindaloo recipe to tell you about !!!!!!!

Ok all joking aside . If you read the site info you would have seen there is a keyword search feature . this would have helped you , also you had no credential info in your profile so no one knows who are what you are . Anyone can say they have been doing this work for however long but ....have they really .??????????????
If you have you would surely realize that the info you were trying to get could have been obtained in a phone call from the compressor supplier .
Also guys on here make a living doing this and dont give out sensitive tech info to every Tom ,Dick ,Harry or Joe Blow that asks for it .
This site is a great site when used correctly by the correct people for the correct reasons ...period .
Yes sometimes guys on here can be a little testy (me included) but for good reason .

When someone's first post as a newbie in a general forum is to ask technical information about a screw compressor that nobody will know off the top of their head then berate people for being unhelpful you know there's a problem. Not only that, there was one guy who was still trying to helop and he caught shrapnel as well.

Plus I'm gonna just guess at about your 15th year in the trade that Trane started putting oil quantity and type on their unit tags. I guess he didn't catch that one!!!!!!

That is so funny, you just made my day. I'd really love to know what the situation is with that guy. Either he bought a compressor off the back of a truck and is trying to hack it in or he's a bean counter who just got a bill for 5 gal oil. Its just so bizarre to make your first port of call a public forum rather than the manufacturer's website.

A pint of whatever oil is in the chiller will do (poured into the suction), prob. OIL00015. Plus a couple of strokes of your oil pump into the filter cavity.

Get your unit info and compressor info ready, make sure you know the type of refrigerant you're dealing with. Call manufacture and ask for there recommendations. But first see if it could have leaked out from any where. Did it tip over on the way to the site and you're helper didn't think it was a big deal and forgot to tell you. It happens.
