appears your solenoid is leaking
may or may not matter depending on type
of solenoid
if it is a pumpdown solenoid you gotta fix

i put a leak deteactor up to it and it didnt show anything
the hissing kinda sounds like its in the hole evaporator as well

that is only your problem? What about the insulation around the valve?

a solenoid leaking internally may hiss but
leak detector won't show it (it's internal)

ill take another look at it....will it only make the hissing noise whilethe compressors running?????

!Sound like its in the whole evaporator!
You mean, the hissing sound is coming from the Expansion valve.
Low on Refrigerant!

That's what I'm thinking, too.
Could be a clogged inlet strainer on the TEV, or a chunk of junk stuck in the solenoid.
OP, Is the outlet of the TEV or LLS frosty?

Excuse me, I thought about the txv.

Put a little bit of hot water in the top, very, very, very hot and wait, if the noise continuous, But all pressures OK and everything OK CHANGE IT Because more late, more problem
gentlemen...
I read this thread twice... I still don't have a clue what he is talking about...
What is the whole story here?
It is leaking refrigerant or passing refrigerant through a valve?

He got a problem with a Walk-in Freezer. The Thermostatic Expansion Valve is making a hissing sound.
yeah... i got that.... but he said he used a leak detector??
This is where I am lost... is it leaking refrigerant through a solder joint and hissing or is his system low on refrigerant and just making a hissing sound INSIDE the valve while the system is running??
I don't guess it matters.... it has a leak either way unless he has junk in the valve causing the hissssss and the hisssss is a sound of refrigeant bleed from the high to low side.

Yes low Refrigerant charge, or junk in the Valve

it was low on refrigerant...the lowpressure sw was leaking...

Working with calm is the best.

Before you do anything else please make sure to grab the liquid line and see if it is hot to the touch.
If it is hot............... please check to make sure your condenser fan motor[s] are working.
While your there why dont you degrease and rinse out the condenser coil?
Most units will hiss if they are not condensing the refrigerent and blowing hot gas thru a solenoid or TXV.

I hope you were joking, it sounds like the temps are normal , and the unit hisses when it goes through the metering device, normal... unless its low on charge which then it will do the same, even under a heavy load, etc humid, open the txv, chek the charge etc,,,
