a/c not running outside (condensing unit), 240 at breaker, 240 at air handler which IS running, 24 volt on thermostat and 24 volt on air handler, but nothing outside, what can anyone tell me??? can it be a broken wire someplace?

check voltage at contactor if none you have bad t-stat,broken wire ?????
did you check the disconnect on the outside condensing unit?

you should have 240 on the disconnect out at the condenser and with the disconnect up at the top of the contactor for the compressor.on the 24V side see if the compressor contactor is in or buzzing(24VAC from the air handler),if it is in and you have 240 at the top the contactor the compressor is shot!

If you mean there is no 240 and no 24 outside then maybe something chewed right thru your cables. Maybe.....

Is contactor pulled in calling for cooling? If yes check fuses/breaker.

thanks guys, I think Mr. Hoover hit it on the head, think something may have chewed thru wires, I am glad I can ask you all these questions, glad you are here.
