Centrifugal Question

What is the minimum %RLA that is exceptable for a Centrifugal Chiller - to be specific older Trane CVHE.

That would depend on what controls you have on the unit, Generally it will take approx. 15% even with the vanes shut

Somebody's been reading design spec's.
One thing I do know, you won't be able to run all day at 15%. Discharge temps rise etc., with vanes closed.
Very unlikely that you will get below 30% amp draw with vanes closed.
That 15% is the load the chiller will be able to operate down to, not % amp draw.

Actually the 15% is what the control will tolerate before a diagnostic will occur. while I agree that is not a realistic value to expect the machine to run, the question I believe was min. acceptable
