Help, need resources

Hello All,

Hi I am spending a lot of time helping a friend of mine who does a/c repair/install for auto/home(window/central) and I am wanting to learn the the more technical side of things and he knows his stuff but his english is limited in the sense that he is french and does his best to explain but can be confusing. Partly, I want to learn more for my own knowledge but also to help him to learn newer approaches or ideas for his work and in general just to return the knowledge he has taught me. So to make story short; I have been searching for a lot of info but have had no luck finding much of any at all except for the properties of various refrigerants! Any refernce to good sites or resources of any form would be great.

I suppose any formulas for r12/r22 for example and how to know how much chg a machine needs that would be low based on rated values and relative temp/humidity or whatever factors are involved for example, but I enough that it is dangerous. In other words i oculd prob repair a window unit but what I think could be a good idea could otherwise turn out to be disaster due to my inexperience and lack of actual understanding/knowledge of the theory side of things.

It's best to start with the basics so that you really understand the refrigeration cycle thoroughly. Here are a few random sites:

The level of knowledge you seek is best attained through school. You should seriously consider college and/or trade school courses.

In terms of sites, mine is geared towards technically minded homeowners. But even so I bet you'll learn a few things you didn't know and a few other things you strongly disagree with. No worries though. My e-mail and phone are readily available. We can debate. ;)
