I just used my r22 guages on a 410 system. Should I evacuate the lines and maniford???

Exactly what damage was done to the system?????
The potential damage is to his R-22 gauges and hoses.

I didn't do anything but put my r22 guages on the 410a system. Im embarrassed to tell you I am 410 certified but that was a year ago and this 410 system was not marked. Did I contaminate my guages and the 410 system??

Maybe if he had quick connects and there was still R-22 and oil left in his guages...

If you added gas to the system you put mineral oil in the 410a system.
Should not have been enough to harm the system.
But some thing to look out for these days.

r22 systems uses mineral oil and it doesn't mix with P.O.E. oil that is used in 410 systems it is like water and oil.

It is unlikely that any oil contamination was done. The pressure of the refrigerant pushes the gas and any residual oil into the hoses and gauges. In order to push that content back into the system, the pressure in the gauge would need to be higher than the system. Most of us remove the hose from the schrader and the gas in the hose is a deminumis loss of refrigerant.
It is possible that either in a charging hose or if you back pressured the hoses with a recovery compressor wouldyou be able to get flow back into the system. Even in that case the miniscule amount of oil would do no harm. Unless the hose was filled with oil.
I'm 410 certed also and very small amounts of mineral oil will not damage anything.

I'm sure any cross contamination was minimal and not a major cause for concern.
However a little refresher on R410a is in order.

You could mix as much as 5% mineral oil with POE oil and not have a problem. Lab tests with even greater amounts of mineral oil mixed with POE oil have been done with no appreciable problem even with extended testing.

I have a set of 410 gauges that I use on 410 systems.
That being said....
I do all other refrigerant work with my R-22 gauges.
134 a, 404 a, Mp39....etc.
Just make sure your hoses are empty when you connect them and you will be fine.

Was the R410a system in a vacuum? If not, wouldn't the R410a pressures have exceeded the pressures in your R22 gauges?

A new manifold set has R-410A,R-404A,R-22 markings.
Manufacturer says using on any of these refrigerants will not contaminate the system. I would guess they want you to empty your lines after checking pressures and before going to a different system.
Anyone seen these. I saw them at Sid Harveys.
