im gonna be installing 5 ton split systems for cell tower rooms.one of the sites i will have to run up the out side of the building vertical run about 80ft than horizontal another 70 feet.can anyone tell me how to figure out my line set size?? 1 1/8 x 1/2 has been what ive been installing on systems under 50 ft.allso should i be installing traps some where on the line for oil?? any other suggestions on this application? thanks for any info

According to Rheem's installation Guide.

Liquid Line: (outdoor unit BELOW indoor coil)
On a 5 ton system with 150 feet of piping the maximum vertical separation is 31 feet. with 1/2" O.D. tubing.

Liquid Line: (outdoor unit ABOVE indoor coil)
You can have a vertical separation up to 120'
if using a TXV

Suction Line:
Rheem recommends 1 1/8" on 150' of pipe.
Note 2: Oil traps in vertical runs are not required for any height up to 120 feet.

you need a trap @ the 4 foot rise then a trap @ the 20 foot rise and the every 8 feet there after..
