IVe had good luck using this sort of Thread Compound Paste on refrigerant leaks that occur due to the schreader cores' gasket leaking minutely (typically over the course of a cold winter).

What are you guys using , if anything ?

We prefer o-ringed caps. if your refering to service caps, i would agree.

Nothing, Replace the core. Any crap you put on there gets in your hoses. If you dont have the proper tool to replace the core, use a cap w/ the rubber gasket in it or install a schrater tee, female flare w/ pin depresser on the bull or run, and two usable 1/4" acsess ports.

I couldnt understand that LMAO...

It is a sealed system. Field Sealed!

Teflon tape on the threads, then after the caps are put on, black tape. After the black tape is put on, then cork tape. Then thumb gum. No leaks.:)

I wouldnt use teflon on the service ports, just change the core and replace cap with one that has the o ring, I do use teflon on the main body caps though. If i didnt do this and replaced the valves instead. I would be replacing so called bad service valves everyday.

You guys are forgetting that "hvacfella" is not even in the trade... that's why he has such hare-brained ideas. And before you protest Dave, being an "HVAC owner" does not qualify as being in the trade.

Nah.....If I did it you'd see the channel lock thread marks and they'd be much more rounded off after I put the gorilla grip to 'em. :)
