Hello all...

I hope someone can help me out.. Today at work i installed a Rheem heatpump and rheem air handler.. It has a heat pack ( heat strips ) and when i turn on heat, the heat pump never comes on... I am wiring a robertshaw 9420 tstat and have the following.

R - red - 24 hot transformer
E - Black - Emergency heat
Y - yellow (y1) - cooling
G - green - fan
B _ Orange reversing vale energized in call for heat )
C _ Common - comon side
W _ White (w1)- heat

electric strips come on and blow warm air , but heat pump not running..
should i jump out W1 & Y1 -- on stat

its a 2 heat 2 cool stat..

I remeber having to do this on somekind of honeywell heatpump stat.. but you guys now how rheem & ruud arer with there wiring...

It looks like the stat is wired correctly.

Does it have an O/B switch inside the stat?

Do you have 24 volts at the condensor?

Or at the A/H?

Time to get the voltmeter out.

Are you sure it's the HP version of that stat or if it's configured to run as an HP stat? It should be energizing the Y terminal upon heating. Also, how high are you setting the heat? maybe you're setting it too high and it's calling for the second stage of heat?

well i have to just remember a few things and get my volt meter out... i havent been back to that job since posting... job down in hamilton virgina.. ( It a fire restoration of building, so ill probably wont be back for a few weeks...

i set the heat just 3 or 4 degrees and still have nothing.. On stat i see (2) two flames.. so i huess its calling for second stage.. i must not be getting a call for the heat pump.. Ill just have to spend a few minutes and just re-wire ... thanks alot for answering..

I just connected the same stat to a lennox heat pump yesterday and the jumper depends on weather the reversing valve is energised on heat or cool
