What is the recommended method to add additional charge? Should the charge be sucked in or pumped in? The manual does not specify.

Place the unit in a vacuum and pull it in.

If you do not know how to put the refrigerant in you should not try it .I say this hoping you do not suck the machine full of air trying to add some charge to it.The charging valve is located below the condenser it has a ball valve on it usually with a 5/8 male flare adapter on it.If the chiller is running or setting in a vacuum you can let the machine draw it in.

Check out the MSDS. You might want to be careful on how much you inhale( like all refrigerants ).
