Unvented Attics

New construction, I will be installing closed cell spray foam on the underside of the roof sheathing and making the space unvented. There will only be ducts in the space, I have a second floor mechanical room that won't require me to install a fire barrier in the attic space, no equipment up there.
Should there be some ventilation between the second floor living space and the uninhabited attic space? Should a couple of grills be installed to allow some air movement in the unvented attic?
