Hi y'all,
I'm doing research for a novel I'm writing and found this forum. One of my characters works in the HVAC business, which I know NOTHING about, so I'm hoping what I learn here will help me make him realistic and competent!

Welcome to the site. Good luck with yur novel....I am sure you can get some good info on here, but some aspects of the business will not be able to be discussed here in the open forums.

Thanks Tech23! I'm not looking to dig up any secrets. Just want my guy to actually know what he's talking about when he's on the job. :-)

You will learn a lot in the residential forum.

Welcome here!

As Tech said read the residential and commercial forums.

If you do a lot of reading and follow a lot of threads you should get a good feel for the work we do.

Good luck.

Tech and Chuck - I'd already been reading LOTS of threads here, before I finally bit the bullet and decided to join. I've got a specific issue I need help with right now so wanted to post a question about that. It's been put in the general discussion forum, if you care to look. The thread is called "Please help me create an HVAC disaster!" :-)

Find a local tech and ride along for a week. You will learn more than you could with a months worth of reading about it.
