Based on eyewitness accounts the helicopter reportedly erupted into a ball of flames after it crashed shortly after 9:30 a.m..

According to police, the plane was lifting a large air-conditioning unit off a building when the pilot lost control and the helicopter crashed, setting two floors of a building on fire.

if it was anyone here, I bet they arent in much of a good mood right now. surely cleaning their undies, and probably at a local hospital. ugly.

I guess helicopters are exempt from the new crane operators regulations

Surprised there was enough fuel on that thing to burst into, they usually run minimum fuel during the lifts.

I bet whoever was involved is going to do everything possible from here on out to use a crane instead.

We had two helicopter on helicopter collisions in AZ a couple years ago. The first was two news helicopters covering a police chase that crashed and landed in a park. The other was two medical helicopters in one of the mountain towns that were both apparently going to the hospital and didn't know the other one was there. Don't these things have radar or something?

The only RADAR helicopters would have would be to indicate their altitude. Generally helicopters don't fly high enough to get above the ground clutter.
