hi guys:

Got a problem maybe u can help me with.

I have a AO SMITH Vertex power direct vent 50g waterheater. My problem is i have a Kohler K-8030 Rain Shower Shower Head that uses 12.5 gpm. I use 3/4" piping from the WH to the showerhead. I can only take a 7-10 min shower without the water getting cold. The Vertex has a high recovery rate but its just not cutting it. What do you guys think i can do? I do not want to remove the shower head or replace the Vertex.

Please help me out here with your opinions.

thanks in advance.

Did you try turning the thermostat up to a higher temperature?

Install a restrictor into the shower head.

Or take shorter showers.......LOL.

If it's still a problem, check the dip tube.

12.5 GPM!!!
You use more water in 10 minutes than I use in a week!!!

The only thing I would suggest for something with that kind of water consumption is a instant (or on-demand) water heater. The entire idea of the waterheater is for an endless supply of water.

i would say turn up the temp and put in a mixing valve
