I am about to replace my 16 year old furnace and air conditioning system with a Carrier Infinity system. At the same time, I am going to replace the ducting (Furnace is in the attic, existing ducting is flexible aluminum duct wrapped in insulation and it has deteriorated (house was built 30+ years ago)).
I've had two companies come out and give estimates and both stated that they would re-use the copper line set between the a/c unit and the coil in the furnace. I am concerned about this because:
1. Will flushing the old lines of R-22 be good enough so that the new refrigerant (and oil) will not cause problems later?
2. The existing line is 3/4". will this be large enough for the new unit?
3. Why would they not replace the line set since they are replacing everything else?
Thanks for any advice.
