I have quite a long run from the HWH to the bathroom sink. I would like to install a recirculating pump so I dont waste water. The Hot water lines are fully accessible in the basement and are insulated. I want one that doesent affect the pressure or the temperature of water.
Any recomendations.

grundfos and other have systems designed for this. call your local supplier and tell them what you wanna do.

Is this something I can buy and install myself?

Can I buy it online and does it use a return line?

If you are a homeowner then you can do whatever you want to your house as long as it is within code. You wanna run a recirc pump? go ahead... Be my guest. Rather simple concept and all my restaurants utilize one.
How are you going to recirc. the hot water if it doesn't have a return line?
Find out where the farthest hot water line is from the hot water heater and then t into it and run a line back to your inlet of your hot water heater. You need to install a check valve in between the recirc pump and cold water inlet on the line as well. Also you need to insulate the hot water return line. Good luck. Remember the smaller diameter the copper and shorter ln ft. of pipe the less amount of heat loss. Use an aquastat for energy conservation

And keep this in mind a recirc loop depending on what type of heater will increase the electric and fuel bill.
Not sure why they keep building big home and installing the water heater further away from the point of use.
Maybe one day we can put the horse back in front of the carriage.
