Hello,
I have a few 20x20 cold air return vents in the house, with the normal louvered vent covers. I notice they are a bit noisy and was wondering if there is any replacement vent or something to make a little less noisy. I have seen greats called egg create? Will these be more quiet than the louvered.
Thanks for any advice,
JR

We are going to need a little more info from you JR. Is the noise coming from the grille itself (usually a rattling or squeaking noise) or is it from the movement of the air over the grille (whistling noise). Then we can determine if the issue is a faulty grille or an issue with the system. It is possible that the returns are undersized and the noise you are hearing is caused by too much velocity passing over the grille. Your best bet may be to get the system evaluated by a reputable company that deals with hot air heat and air conditioning, they should be able to correctly identify the problem and advise you on the best route for repair.

Hello,
Thank you for the reply. It is a brand new system, and I would say it is the velocity of the air flow. Do the louvered grills tend to make more noise?
Thanks JR

How many are "a few" ? A singal 20 X 20 can handle a considerable amount of air in a residental application.
Do you have any idea of the capacity of your system? BTUs or CFMs ??
