SWANZEY, N.H. -- A 7-year-old Siberian husky was shot in the leg Thursday night while his owner was working inside his garage.
"I heard a loud bang and then I heard Dozer whining. I said to my son, 'Somebody's shooting at Dozer,'" said Philip Sherrick, Sr.
Sherrick went outside and saw the armed man standing in his driveway who said, "It's just pellets," and walked away, Sherrick said.
Sherrick called police and drove Dozer to the vet hospital, where he had emergency surgery to amputate his right rear leg at the hip.
Police recovered the shell casings from the rifle and are now trying to determine to whom the gun belongs.
Sherrick said he believes he knows who shot his dog, but he doesn't know why.
Dozer is well-known among the neighbors on Marcy Hill Road who said sometimes Dozer wanders when he gets off his tie out. The staff at the Citgo station in town were horrified when they heard that Dozer was shot and sent him a get well card

Yea, I'd be the one in trouble. I'd see if the Mouse Gun in my pocket would poke a Hole In His Azz.

Had a guy drag his dog to death on a mountain road here a year ago. At least they caught him and he did some time in the pin. I think the laws against anamials should be as severe as if they were commited against another human beeing. I hope they catch that SOB.

What I would WANT to do as opposed to would I could do without getting arrested in my state leaves me in a rage. I would have loved to put a bullet in his azz for being on my property or even more so to shoot him in the butt with some buckshot while he was lying in his bed and say "It's just pellets" !
I hope that they give him lots of jailtime. Glad that the dog survived.:gah:

Most often it seems humans are the worst kind of animals on the planet.

I'm not.
Ida killed him. Plain and simple. Not a doubt in my mind.
The use of deadly force is authorized to save lives. Man already shot the dog....I consider that a threat on both the dog's life and my life and would have re-acted accordingly. He would have been dead in the driveway......and dead men can't write the report.

Yep, no question what needs to be done, or what I would do!

Yer not supposed to use the "K" word.(in public)
To stay out of legal trouble, "you neutralize the aggression"

Had a situation down here a few years ago where someone or ones skinned a dog alive and then let it go. Owner got home and found it and had it euthanized. I sat there reading the story in the paper and got so mad I started shaking. Personally, I can think of several things other than shooting someone like that which would serve to better deter that kind of behavior in the future by other folks. In the same situation, I believe that if I had to take my dog to the vet, then that guys owner would have to take him to the ER (and it would have been the first of many trips for him).

Unbelievable, Shame there are vile human beings like him walking the earth. When I read about stories like this just toally p's me off. You know aholes like this are the same ones who have no business having children cause I can only imagine what their child would have to endear.

There's probably more to this story that we don't know about.
But, there should be some middle ground, that adults can agree to.
I'm gonna try to follow this story to see where it goes.

Locate, close with, and destroy the enemy by fire and maneuver, or repel the enemy's assault by fire and close combat.
or in short.....
Kill em all....let God sort em out.

That's a tragic story.
There's been a few psychological studies done about the people that do things like this.
Most times, they have no problems doing it to humans either.

Kinda similar to a child molester IMO... Picking on someone (person or pet) that trusts too much and does not defend themselves quickly enough.
I can think of many ways to 'neutralize this issue'... however at the least I would loose my CCW... probably more like I would spend some time up the river.
Things come home to roost... the guy will get his... Just wish we could be there to see it.
Sorry for the pup AND for the owner.

Negative.
Thats the mission of the Marine Corps Rifle Squad.
No need for anyone else when you got the Marines.

I still would love to install a bit of birdshot into the problem rather than to eliminate it.......suffering is needed in this case!

In this hypothetical, burn the earth situation, I like the idea of a sniper.
Stealthy, working alone, no need to coordinate with anyone. Sneak in, do the job, leave, and nobody knows nothin'. Kinda like Carlos Hathcock used to do.
But, that's just my opinion.

It's a small town. How about public humiliation of some form?
Cleaning up dog poop in the entire city? Something like that.

I really think the perp will be caught.
I honestly don't know what the punishmet should be.
A fine just isn't enough.

Used to be; Judges had a sense of what got folks attention... and metered out justice so there would be a change of heart... Does not always seem to be the case now-a-days.
I just hope they get the perp, and he suffers enough to think of what he did.

Saw this on the local news the other day. They believe it was a neighbor (pd has brought them in for questioning). Personally think we should let Dozer eat him. I can't believe that these people breath the same air as the rest of us.

I say he'd be lucky to make it to the end of the driveway if it was me. 1st off, hurt my dog and I hurt you, 2nd, shooting a firearm on my property at something of mine, bigger problem. 3rd if that was my kid with me, I'd be very defensive against someone shooting on my property!
I'm no tree hugger or anything, but cruelty to animals is completely uncalled for. You hunt them? That's cool, clean shots and quick kills. You torment a pet and you're a low life.
