A friend asked... Got this split 5ton high efficient job. she's a trane unit and has been runnin fine for about 5 years. Comlaint now is that on the off cycle after she satisfies she makes a loud clamering sound for about 15 seconds. My buddy who looked at it says pressures seem good but after she satisfies and shuts down the compressor starts to rock nd roll for aprox. 15 seconds in heat mode. Up here in North so ambient low so buddy wraps coil to get head up to about #225 and compressor rocks nd roles in cooling as well upon shut down. I know this is pretty brief on info but buddy asked me and I was thinkin perhaps compressor going backwards when she equilizes, but I figure there should be some sort of check valve built into discharge of compressor??? Anyways I would appreciate some insight. Thanks all.
