I have a 68 AMC AMX 390

360, 390, 401 - V8's Caravelle blue in 68. 69-73 blue poly. I honestly guessed on the majority of those lol I'm too young. But I knew the AMC once I saw it :P.

I think remember those cars. Two seater's, kinda a fastback? They were fast as I remember. Not bad lookers either.

Ya, I believe the '68 was one of the fastest production cars of that year. (If I was informed correctly)

I think you're right.
How hard are parts to get these days? I know, back in the day, they weren't plentiful, or cheap.
As I remember, most were 4 speeds.

You got 19 right out of 19.

I have owned about a third of these engines, and worked on all but three of the others. Interesting Quiz!

Too be honest parts used to be impossible to get a hold of. But AMC owners/lovers got together within the past 10-15yrs and started fabricating these parts because there was a market for them. I believe they may have even got the actual old OEM manufacturing molds to remake a lot of the body panels and such. The only real problems are getting ahold of the interior panels (dash, centerconsole, glovebox, etc).

I know most were hurst 4 on the floors but mine is automatic.

Luckily my dad back in the day bought all NOS (New old stuff) parts for it. My dad used to own 2 gremlins with 360's in them, a javelin, and a spirit gt. I got to drive the spirit GT for a year when I first turned 16 lol. He told me those gremlins were mean SOB's and the name suited them well. You see a lot of gremlins in movies for some reason.

Really. A Gremlin with a 360? Was that factory? I thought that the 6 cylinder, almost filled up the engine compartment as it was.

Ya ever see a Duster with a factory 440, 4 speed? I've only seen one or two in my life.

Like somebody else said. I guessed most of mine, by the colors.

Sorry, you were right, I just called my dad to verify. They only came with V6's or a 304 V8. A dealership out of arizona did put some 401's in them. Man I would love to get my hands on one of those if there are any still out there.

I remember barely having room for two people in a Gremlin. Then, if you were the unlucky one that had to ride in the back seat,if ya could call it that, you had to see a doctor the next day.
Were those "the good old days?"

I'm thinkin', you could almost get the front wheels off the ground, with a V8 in a car that small.
What was the name of that other car, the bubble lookin' one? I can't remember now. Pacer maybe?

You remember when Rambler made a race car? It was from the factory. I think it was a red, white, and blue stripe deal.

OEM colors have changed over the years. The heads and fuel systems were the keys to most.

Funny thing is, I got the 348 right. And the Mopars as well. I got the Studebaker, but thought it would have been in a Golden Hawk. Never in a Lark.

In 1969 AMC teamed with Hurst Performance Products to introduce the completely over the top AMC Hurst SC/Rambler. 315 horse 390 brought 425 pounds of torque at only 3200 RPM In a 2900 pound car this combination was deadly to pretty much all the bigger named muscle cars.

And most folks think of a Rambler as grandmoms kind of cars.
Which, for the most part, they were.

Ya, a badass grandmas car lol. And that badass grandma probably got a kick out of racing the young whipper snapper and smoking the $&@( outta them. If it wasn't for the paint scheme it would have been the ultimate sleeper car.

I can't wait till I get old and have a nice sleeper car :P

I've got a real sleeper. A '70 Karman Giah. It's been sleeping in the garage for 10 years now. Never hit, no rust. Most of the restoration parts sitting inside. I just can't myself together enough to assemble it again. My wife has wanted me to do something with it for a few years now. I keep telling her I'm aging it. Like a fine bottle of wine. She's not going for it though.
