HVAC equipment evaluations

Doing my senior project for college on doing an energy audit on 4 campus buildings. I am looking for independent studies on all the various HVAC/R equipment, (e.g. boilers that are efficient and low emissions and runs off natural gas). I know windows will be an issue and insulation, during my research phase I will record all the equipment in the MEC rooms and see how old they are. Anything you ole pros out there can share will be appreciated, the more information I can get my hands on the better. I've had one year of basic HVAC at a Vo-tech college and worked for JCI for a couple years as the dispatcher, so I was never a HVAC MEC, but I did help the guys to grunt work when they needed another body.
