I want to use a heat exchanger on a steam boiler to heat water for my customer's basement baseboard heating. I've never done this and was hoping someone could tell me the best way to go about this. I've used heat exchangers in many applications and it seams quite simple but I don't want to have to do this twice. My thought was to use a plate exchanger in the liquid loop of the boiler and just use a pump in a closed loop for the baseboard. input on this would be greatly appreciated.

You're probably going to need pro access to get this info.
It is possible and works fine, just not the way you're describing.

Exactly right Chuck
Get that post count up and apply for pro membership.
There is info on all of this there
I have a customer who has a steam boiler that supplies steam to the 2nd floor
and hot water to baseboards for the first floor
And it works great

I'm going to take the time and fill out what I need to change my status. This seems like a great place for info.
