First off, I just want to get "opinions from professionals" on brands of thermostats. I have 2 Rheem 10 Seer Heat pump.

Upstairs Unit/Indoor - RCBA-2459GG14; RBHA - 14J11SFJA
Outdoor - RPKA-025JAZ
Downstairs Unit/Indoor - RCBA-3765GG17; RBHA 17J14SFDA
Outdoor - RPKA-031JAZ

Secondly I am not a DYI. I want opinions b/c I have talked to 2 service techs from different companies. both said my thermostat was junk, and then they both told me to have 2 different brands installed. One said Honeywell, the other said White Rogers. And they both said the other was junk. Third I want to get the best thermostat for my system to help with efficiency. So please do not close my thread I just want to get ideas from "Professionals" so I can get the best for my system and not a preference from 2 different installers, Which they both were at my house fixing other things and both screwed something up while they were here.

Honeywell IAQs. Good control over the systems, easy wiring (at least for someone who does it for a living) and 5 year warranty

You've been my partner on lots of jobs and repairs. You've been a great
help in your consistent reliable service. You've always done what I've asked without question. What more could I ask?

I'm happy with Honeywell stats, from 4000-8000's .

My guys love the CTC Indiglo for more of a basic model. Don't have any trouble installing Honeywell or White Rodgers...it's just a personal preference from one dealer to the next. It's the LuxPro and BesTech stuff I'd stay away from. Another decent brand is Braeburn and Robert Shaw, I personally don't like either but they are good brands per se.

Thanks, for all your comments. My system is all electric. I'm not sure if that changes anything or not.

Honeywell makes Thermostats. Rolex makes watches. Rolls Royce makes cars. Boeing makes Airplanes. Harley Davidson makes motorcycles. You get the picture! There is the best then there is the rest.

I don't see braeburn stats discussed much here. I'm wondering how you all feel they stack up. In my personal research, it seems they have the combination of features the others don't really have... most specifically, in my current use, I need humidification, AND economizer control. It seems honeywell and white-rogers only implement the econ mode through external modules, using an extra heating or cooling stage, whil the upper end braeburn stats (5400 and 6400) implement econ mode in the stat (which really makes sense, since most upped end residential stats are already running an OSA temp). I don't have personal experience with the braeburn stats yet, just the specs/manuals, but is there anything out there that compares in this regard?

Watch out Honeywell, NEST might be the new best.

Nest is not much more than the cheapest honeywell stat in a pretty box.

Time will tell.

I wasn't saying the NEST stat won't sell like crazy... but it is certainly not the BEST stat.

And really, its best features are the ease of setup. It is designed from the start for homeowner install, and goes through a setup wizard (even as far as detecting the wires connected and everything). But as a thermostat, it really doesn't bring anything new.

Problems with the stats themselves, or problems getting them replaced under warranty?

Not sure about any coverage issues,,,, my understanding was too many return calls and swap outs.
