I have two Ruud Mod's a UGFD120 and a UGGD60. The 60 puts out a steady stream of condensate when running, but the 120 is putting out hardly any. The 120 spends a good deal of its time running at lower fire rates but does ramp up when needed. I seem to remember the 120 putting out a lot more condensate a year ago. I've had it serviced and the condensate lines cleaned and blown out.

Shouldn't I be getting more condensate draining from the condensate trap and drain pipe? I'm getting a drop every 2-3 seconds.

As a side note we always get quite a bit of steam from the vent, and a couple of weeks ago there was enough ice built up from the ground below the vent that it partially blocked the intake and shut the furnace down. I knocked the ice down and fired the furnace back up and all has been good since.

Well, the vent gasses still contain some water that will produce steam in your climate when it exits the house. You should be getting roughly twice as much condenstae from the 120 as from the 60. Not sure what's going on. Do you have a leak somewhere, maybe?

We had our furnaces serviced a couple of weeks ago. My wife said the guy spent les than 1 minute under the house so I know he didn't do anything (they are supposed to inspect and clean the burners, blow out the condensate, etc). Of course the service sheet says they did this.

The flu pipe is suppose to slope backward toward the furnace so that the furnace drains and trap catch and remove all of the condensate. perhaps your 120 is installed with the flu level or sloping toward the end point. Is there water dripping from the flue termination on the outside of the house?

The flue does slope back to the furnace, and the trap works as intended.

My old Rheem would have very little output of condensate while it was running, however as soon as the inducer shut off a large amount would drain. Perhaps it's holding more condensate in the secondary HX due to the larger inducer for the bigger unit. Have you noticed how much flows out when the heat cycle ends?

Pull the plug and see what happens. and/or You may have drier air pulling from the 120k. Air is not created equal.
