I have a Carrier heat pump that will work perfectly in cooling mode but will not work in heat mode. The air handler will come on and I'm getting the proper signal at the condenser defrost board but not at the contactor. System pressures in cooling are good and I hear the RV solenoid click but not neccesarily switching over but i didnt think a stuck RV would keep the compressor from coming on. Any help would be greatly appreciated it.

It wont , it will just run in whichever position its in. Is the compressor and condenser fan running at all. If not it sounds like a control circuit. Is this a new issue this winter?

so right now you can call for cooling and the system outside runs? Maybe your not getting 24 from the stat in heat mode?

I'm getting 24 volts outside and I have jumped the t-stat to call for heat and nothing comes on outside.
