It seems to me that many of the homes that have mold problems have AC units that are (are seemed)oversized.
It also seems there is more mold problems in homes with heat pumps than with gas or oil heat. I use to work with a contractor that specialized in heat pumps and many, many of the systems had mold in them.
Has anyone else seen this problem more in heat pump systems.

yes heat pump coils are oversized by design therefore run warmer ... all ac units are oversized 90% of the time ... oversizing does not necessarily cause mold ... it is mainly equipment selection and application along with crappy installs that cause the problem ... thus no ac companies like lennox are successfully sued for mold

You aren't saying that going with a lennox dealer insures that you don't get mold in your duct system ?
Here in my area we are a heatpump area and yes I see moldy systems but there is mold everywhere. Mold on sides of buildings, inside of bathrooms, under buildings with large mold spores. Here we can have 3 days of weather with a dew point above 70 degrees.
Here the key is putting up a building that resists the moisture and the building is sealed up tight and that the system is sized properly fresh air is introduced into the system and filtered and conditioned. Then properly installed drains that are serviced every year and keep up with.

mold is not brand specific ... it is dealer selection oriented ... in houston i have never had mold remediation in a house with my system design in 20 years ... it is dealer ignorance of design that causes 95% of the problem
