Trane Varitrac Comfort Manager

I need to communicate with a Trane Varirac Comfort Manager.
I have a null-modem adapter and a Windows 98SE laptop. The Comfort Manager has a 25 pin female serial port.
Is there software I need on the laptop. The liturature I have only states that I need terminal emulation software.

You don't need speacial software for the older varitracks. You connect to them via hyper terminal on your computer.
