Hello,

I'm a new homeowner just starting out...
In the SF bay area, and looking for a trustworthy person to possibly do some repair of my ductwork.

Where/How should I begin the process of knowing who to call for estimates?

The phonebook is loaded with ads!

Thanks

I started my search by looking who had a satisfactory reputation with the Better Business Bureau. It's not a guarantee, but it helps limit your choices and give you a better chance of finding someone good.

Also, ask around. I asked co-workers and family if they had any HVAC work done, who they used, did the like them, etc.

Once I got down to a short list, I started calling and scheduling time for them to come out and look at what I have and get a bid on what I want to do. After I met them all and got all the bids, then I could make an informed decision. I was looking for people who knew what they were doing, who had evidence of prior work done well, who had references, who showed up on time, and could generally make me feel confident about them.

Hope this helps. There's a ton to choose from, that's for sure.
