Hi Everyone:
I live in a 1,400 sq foot ranch in Buffalo New York. Factoring out my hot water tank, my heating bill with a 28-year old furance is about $1,450 a year. I don't know how long I will be living in the house.
What are you thoughts about going with a two stage 80% unit versus a single stage 92% unit? The price difference is $300. (I can't afford the two stage 92% unit.)
My reasoning is as follows.
The 80% two stage is slightly less complex, and may be cheaper to repair than a high efficiency (though, of course, I know I will be paying higher gas bills too).
With a two-stage 80% furnace my house may be more comfortable.
Are the assumptions I am making valid?
