Got called out to a accountant's office on Broadway in NYC for a no cooling call. They also said the air flow is not great.
The unit is halfway between a break room and a stock room on the other side of the wall from the conditioned space. (No way to exhaust the warm air out of the space back to the unit). So that was problem #1 diagnosed.
Now for the no cooling. When i opened up the compressor section, i saw the T3 wire cut clean. Hmmmm
The customer told me the back story. The previous "contractor" told them the condenser fan motor was burnt and the needed to change it. After they probably realized they couldnt get it out, they dirtied up the new motor and tried to pass it off as the changed one. Customer told em to hit the bricks so this cut wire mustve been done before they left.
Needless to say the fan motor was fine but if it ever had to be changed, the main ceiling grid would have to come down just to open the door all the way.
Plus check out the condenser coil!
