Let me set this one up...

I was working as an HVAC INstructor in NYC and a teacher from another program asked me if i could look at his buddy's A/C at his business. He explained that the business was a "free range kennel", this means the dogs roam around free-no cages (except for the mean ones). The returns were wide open (despite one zone being on the other side of the building) and both pulling from the same room.

Don't get ahead of me...i know you guys know what i'm leading up to.

After I replaced the blower motors in both 5 ton Evcons, both boards (which had burned out) and cleaned the evaps of fur, he called back a month later.

" My a/c's are acting up again, can you come by?" It was after hours and I was with my family but i was in the area with my minivan. I at least had a 6-in-1 to open the panel.

I even used one of his "doggie dryers" to try to defrost it.

I told him he needed to get the returns off the floor the first time and quoted him but i was too expensive so he ran it like that.

Returns off the floor are not the problem in one month. Do they have a filter? It will stop dog hairs. Maybe the blower quit running?

Heck, if the coil froze up in December, maybe its a stuck contactor? Dont want to think what doggies could do to generate heat in December.....

One of the workers decided to pull the filters when it got clogged and collapsed. I left a case of them there the first time but i guess that sounded a lot like work to him so he just yanked it.

He said it worked good for a couple days after this. When i tell you the "general population" room at this kennell was only 40" away from the front of these machines.

These are old pics-this happened in August.
