So, why would R410A require a seperate certification other than Type III or Universal? A supply store said they would sell me the refrigerant but not the tools to work with it without the cert.from its company. Is this backwards or what?????
Is there any "General" cert. for R410A????

It really has nothing to due with the 410A. Its just another refrigerant. They are using the 410A as a training campain to get the techs back to using proper refrigeration service techniques. They are tired of warrantying crap that the lines were just purged out with refrigerant instead of evacuated properly, systems that were not leak tested properly, charged by the beer can method etc. Hopefully once these techs understand proper servicing techniques it will carry over into the other refrigerant types they use. JMHO
