Have been running across floating chilled water valves used as 2 position lately. Some say 2 positioning gets the whole coil cold and dehumidifies better, some say that's not true and uncomfortable. Why pay for a floater and not float it? Time to vote.

Here is my vote - very, very, bad idea. By using a two position chilled water valve the system is made to function just like on - off control on DX cooling. It may do a better job of dehumidification while it is on, but when it shuts off it does NO dehumidification.

Terrible, thats why mod valves were made, now if you said you were leaving it open then reheating that is an ashrae cycle for dehum.

2-10 or 4-20, only use floating if you have to, and don't use on/off, IMHO

Thanks guys. I agree with modulation but almost always see on/off.

Sound like someone had a shop full of floating valves.
